Drawing with graphite is slightly different than working with lead pencils. It takes a certain skill, and it's important to have the proper equipment to do so. Many artists prefer graphite over lead, as the graphite is able to achieve stark contrasts that are not possible with ordinary lead pencils.
It can take some time to get used to sketching with graphite pencils if you're used to working with lead pencils, but the results make it worthwhile. Soon you'll want to experiment with graphite watercolours. Here, you'll require water and a paintbrush, as opposed to a pencil.
